Blackauthored
Librarian Guide

This guide explains how to update an author’s reading-order catalog on Blackauthored.

You need a librarian (or other staff) account with permission to manage authors. If you don’t see an Add/Edit Catalog control on an author’s reading-order page, ask an admin to confirm your role.

Open the author’s catalog

  1. Go to the author’s profile page.
  2. Open the Reading order tab
  3. Click Add/Edit Catalog to activate Edit Mode. Here you can create catalogs, edit names/descriptions, add or remove books and series, reorder entries, and delete catalogs.
  4. When you’re finished, be sure to click Done to save all of your updates

Create/Edit a catalog

  1. In edit mode, click Add or Edit catalog.
  2. Enter a Name (required) and optional Description.
  3. Click Save catalog.

Empty catalogs are fine while you’re building them—they won’t appear on the public page until they have at least one entry.

Add a book or series to a catalog

  1. Expand the catalog you want to update.
  2. Click Add book or Add series.
  3. Search for the title in the dialog.
  4. Click Add next to the correct result.

Already-added items show as Added and can’t be added twice.

Can’t find a book?

If the book isn’t in the search results, add it to Blackauthored first:

  1. Open your account menu (profile dropdown in the header).
  2. Click Add a book (or Add book).
  3. Follow the prompts to create the book.
  4. Return to the author’s catalog editor and search for it again, then add it to the catalog.

Remove an entry

  1. Expand the catalog.
  2. Click Remove next to the entry.
  3. Confirm when prompted.

This only removes the book or series from this catalog. It does not delete the book from Blackauthored.

Delete a catalog

  1. Expand the catalog.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Confirm when prompted.

Deleting a catalog removes the catalog and all of its entries from the author’s reading order.

Tips

  • Prefer clear catalog names readers will understand (for example, “Main series,” “Standalones,” “Novellas”).
  • Use the description for short guidance (recommended order, spoilers, spin-off notes).
  • After you click Done, skim the public accordion to confirm covers, titles, and order look right.
  • Series and books are separate entry types—add a series when the whole series belongs in the order as one block; add individual books when they should appear as standalone rows.
