Blackauthored exists to celebrate, discover, and discuss books written by Black authors. Our community is built on respect, curiosity, and a shared love of storytelling, and it’s up to you to help make a safe destination for intelligent, insightful and respectful conversation.
These guidelines are incorporated into our Terms of Use and set the guardrails for what behaviour is and is not allowed on our platform in order to provide a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.
Abuse
Anti-Blackness
- Do not: Post content that is anti-Black, including language, behavior, or viewpoints that demean, dehumanize, stereotype, or invalidate Black people, Black culture, or Black experiences. This includes dismissing discussions of anti-Black racism, using coded or indirect language to undermine Black voices, or engaging in rhetoric that minimizes or denies systemic inequality.
Harassment
- Do not: Engage in targeted abuse, bullying, or harassment of any individual or group, including repeated unwanted interactions, intimidation, or attempts to shame or degrade others.
Hate Speech
- Do not: Post content that attacks, demeans, or discriminates against individuals or groups based on identity, including race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, or disability.
Rage Bait
- Do not: Post inflammatory or offensive content intended to provoke reactions, derail conversations, or intentionally disrupt the community.
Safety
Child Exploitation
- Do not: Post, share, or engage with any content that exploits or endangers minors, including sexualized content, grooming behavior, or any material involving the abuse of children.
Threats of Harm
- Do not: Threaten violence or express intent to harm others, including statements involving death, injury, or damage to people or property.
Incitement of Violence
- Do not: Encourage, promote, or incite others to commit violence or harm, including using indirect or coded language to support harmful actions.
Suicide & Self-Harm
- Do not: Post content or engage in behavior that promotes, glorifies, or encourages suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, or activities that may result in serious physical harm.
Terrorism and Violent Extremism
- Do not: Promote, support, or glorify terrorist organizations, extremist ideologies, or acts of mass violence.

Spam
- Do not: Post repetitive, irrelevant, or unsolicited content, including advertisements, self-promotion, or links that do not meaningfully contribute to the community.
Misinformation
- Do not: Share false, misleading, or manipulated information, especially content that misrepresents books, authors, or communities.
Deceptive Practices
- Do not: Use Blackauthored to engage in fraud, phishing, scams, or any activity intended to deceive or exploit others.
Intellectual Property
- Do not: Share or distribute copyrighted material without permission, including pirated books or unauthorized content.
Impersonation
- Do not: Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person, author, or entity in order to mislead others.
Plagiarism
- Do not: Post reviews or content that you did not write. No, seriously.
Security
Personal Information
- Do not: Collect, share, or misuse personal or confidential information without consent, including addresses, phone numbers, financial details, or other sensitive data.
Account Security
- Do not: Attempt to access, use, or interfere with another user’s account without authorization, including sharing accounts or trying to bypass login protections.
Malicious Software & Links
- Do not: Share or distribute malicious code, files, or links designed to harm, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to devices, accounts, or data.
Unlawful Use of Service
- Do not: Use Blackauthored to facilitate illegal activities, including the exchange or promotion of controlled substances, weapons, or other prohibited goods or services.
